Lynch Arrivals through Ellis Island (1892-1924)
Of the more than 22 million passengers that arrived through Ellis Island during the peak period of American immigration (1892 to 1924), over 8,000 had the surname Lynch or another very close variant. Since 2001, The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation has provided free access to high-quality digital scans of the original passenger manifests and a searchable electronic index via the Internet and at their American Family Immigration History Center® on Ellis Island. The availability of these records was and continues to be a tremendous asset for anyone researching their family history. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to visit Ellis Island and to support the nonprofit Foundation that has worked so hard for more than two decades to preserve, restore, and share the stories of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.
All researchers are encouraged to check the grouping where First Name begins with M because this also includes a small grouping where common salutations were transcribed as part of the First Name field (example: Lynch, Mrs. Eliza). In addition, there are additional Ellis Island passenger arrival records where Last Name (Surname) includes Lynch, followed by other characters. There were no Lynch passenger arrivals bearing a First Name beginning with the letter U.
