Eugene Lynch
Strange as this may seem, I'm going to start at the end and work backwards through the life of Eugene Lynch, my great grand father. On 10 August 1896, in the midst of a lingering heat wave that plagued the greater Waterbury area, Eugene fell to his death from the fourth floor porch of his cousin (Mrs. Ellen Walsh), corner of Fuller & _____ Streets. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his cause of death was listed as "Fractured Skull". The event was reported on the front pages of both the Waterbury Republican and Waterbury American newspapers (haven't checked the Democrat yet). The article provides good information for anyone conducting family history research.
He had a female cousin named Walsh - What is her maiden name?
Was this a cousin on his father or mothers side? Who were his aunt & uncle?
Article notes he was a widower, his wife having died a few years earlier
Article notes that "four children are living about the city with strangers"
Given the year of death, I looked to the 1900 U.S. Federal Census (already knowing the names of the four chidren I was looking for - my dad's dad, as well as his aunts and uncles). We find the following:
John Lynch, age 12, nephew, living with the McCarthy family (head of household is Johanna McCarthy)

Patrick , age 17, also living with the McCarthy family (Aunt Johanna and cousins)
